Maulidur Rasul, colloquially known as Mawlid, comes from an Arabic word that means “birth.” It is used to refer to the anniversary of Muhammad's birth. Muslims come together in a procession, recite the Quran, praising the Prophet and speak of how he lived and his attributes, in order to learn more about Islam.
